Hey guys,
first thing first, I’m supposed to analyse a poem and reflect on it. so here’s the poem:
The Mother by Robert William Service
Your children grow from you apart,
Afar and still afar;
And yet it should rejoice your heart
To see how glad they are;
In school and sport, in work and play,
And last, in wedded bliss
How others claim with joy to-day
The lips you used to kiss.
Your children distant will become,
And wide the gulf will grow;
The lips of loving will be dumb,
The trust you used to know
Will in another’s heart repose,
Another’s voice will cheer . . .
And you will fondle baby clothes
And brush away a tear.
But though you are estranged almost,
And often lost to view,
How you will see a little ghost
Who ran to cling to you!
Yet maybe children’s children will
Caress you with a smile . . .
Grandmother love will bless you still,–
Well, just a little while.
I’m supposed to reflect on what I’ve learnt about POETRY from this poem. I really have no idea how to write it. There’s not much assonance, personification so i can’t say much about them.
There’s rhyme and a rhythm so i can say "a poem doesn’t need rhyme"
THANKS.

This is a ‘sing-song’ poem…simple to the point of childish…sorry, Robert Service.
Wordy, immature, needs concrete images the reader can relate to much more. Etc!
Good Morning!
i don’t understand your question so i’ll tell you want i feel about poems
a poem reflects one’s feelings, desires & wishes
a poem is a story that you have to analyze closely in order to comprehend it’s purpose, because no matter what a poem reads it will ALWAYS have a purpose.
Poetry is pretty much words from the heart & sometimes are difficult to understand, as they can be easy
some poems seem like they can be about the most common things but every single person will take what it says in a different way
hope it goes well for you <3
This poem is about Love,TrustandFaith
I should quit reading poetry if the standered is so high
It is true, we all die,
Mothers and fathers can appreciate;
the bliss of a child,
And the pain it brings as well,
It is true, we all cry,
When our children leave the house,
The happiness of the times before;
will bring the stinging back,
And still we go on,
And still life goes on,
For there is nothing better then a child;
one to call your own
Well, I hope that helped a little O.o
Nothing…..
Absolutely nothing.
Well, I learn(ed) how to spell correctly and how important that is to the reader.
I learned that some poetry rhymes, some have definite stanza breaks; and that rhyme and rhythm together is pleasant to read.
I learned that changing sentences around so they read almost backward, adds interest and variety to poetry.
I learned that simple expression can sometimes be more touching than fancier, longer more stylishly written poems, but that all have a place in the realm of poetry as do critics.
I learned that there is a definite difference between childish writing and poetry that has a warm simple message.
the thought of the poem is distance can make or marr relationships
With poetry you learn that the clever use of words can paint a picture in your head much larger than the few words you have read. Imagery is very important and word sounds that flow to keep your attention. The music of the words enhances their meaning. The thoughts are deep and thought provoking.
